Is it normal to have pins and needles in a finger if you have slammed it hard in the last 24 hrs?

Earlier today, I accidentally slammed my little finger on a plastic chair, and have been getting pins and needles (tingling sensations) in it ever since. I don't think it's serious, however, I have heard stories from my friends that sometimes they don't even know that they've fractured a bone before going to the doctor...
